I sat the filter on the floor of the room that the closet with the grow tent is in, end-cap down and sat the fan into the flange on the top. I use it to scrub the air in the whole room that the grow tent is in. I have it set to pull air into the filter and out the fan. There is hardly any odor in the room now. No more odor in the house at all and I have the speed controller set around 30%. The filter is reversible so later when I decide it is not doing good enough all I have to do is swap the prefilter to inside the cannister and flip the fan over.
Just sharing a different idea and way to use it. No filter taking up room in the tent, no hassle changing it around if needed during a full tent grow and no extra weight on the tent frame. It also helps by constantly stirring the air in the room so the window unit AC in that room has an easier job keeping my ambient temperature under control. The fan I use to exhaust my tent is a cheap desktop fan,

My tent has 4 x 10 inch ducts, from outside the tent I placed the above fan into the duct in the top of the tent, it fits close enough to form its own seal and blowing air out of the tent, ran the power cord down through the same duct and over to the always on power strip. That fan creates a good bit of negative pressure when running on low or medium speed…
For ventilation and air scrubbing, this system seems to work pretty good

Thanks @Countryboyjvd1971 gonna see what happens when I reverse it. Fairly sure it’s from my tent cause I can stand on the side porch where the vent is and smell buds (but they are pretty ripe and nearly done).
@MindlessCorpse I appreciate the reply. I may try a different config for my next grow. I do think my 4" fan and filter, while adequate, are small for my needs and I will prob upgrade to a larger fan/filter (6"). My fan has been running at max since day one and I never thought I would need to run it at max but it’s only 194cfm or something like that as I recall.
Haha @bonnie1 I know exactly what this smell is, it’s like perfume for peppy le pu (gets in the nose and you want to smoke it). 100% “do you smell that, someone’s growing weed” smell. lol
I just assumed (dangerous) that my carbon filter would scrub that clean through all phases of stank.
@Screwauger… lol you’re smelling your good strong weed… now I have to start thinking about putting my carbon fan&filter together this next grow… the smell gets really strong during end stages… soon you’ll be enjoying your grow!!
Much to my surprise, even the 3/4 dead plant is starting to fatten up I do believe. Gonna keep her on water and flora kleen for four days and split the stem tonight then cut all water Friday and kill the lights Sat and harvest Monday!! That’s the plan anyway.
Just a quick update. Both plants are on separate reservoirs now and the B Ball has been on straight water with pH 5.8 for 5 days. I added 10ml/gallon Flora Kleen last night and will keep that going until Friday (I think).
This morning I shut down the LED’s and looked over the buds with my 30x/60x/90x loop under 6700k CFL light.
Here is my assessment (Wish I could get pics and seek crowd-sourcing but…)
8 Ball I split the stem on this plant last evening. Gonna say pistils are 60% with some still straight and white with no amber trichs but many mikly trichs
Sweet Tooth This poor girl has been neglected and expected to hold her own while most of my attention has been on the injured cousin. Took a good look today and WHOA, my estimates have pistils at 80-90% brown and 20-30% amber trichs (sorry sweetie!!).
I quickly put the Sweet Tooth on a plain water diet this a.m. and tomorrow will add 10ml/gal Flora Kleen. My gut tells me that despite what I thought, the Sweet Tooth is basically done and will harvest first or both together, not sure. Stressful times LOL
@Screwauger Yes Sir, You have your work cut out for you! A labor of Love! Nicely done. She snuck up you a little, but thats ok. I’d flush her (ST) and harvest her first and make the other one (8B) wait another day or so after.
Hey Bob, that’s what I’m thinking too re: S. Tooth. I assume your talking flush and harvest it in next 24 hours?? That is going to present a few challenges lol. First the screen, she’s embedded in there pretty good. Next the autopot. The base will only hold 8-10 ounces of runoff and to lift the pot high enough to get a pail or something under her might/might not be doable.
The “flush” in an autopot is running straight water for a few days (which is gonna leave me with some heavy duty amber).
So, gonna half to improvise something and get it out of there.
